The 4am Project gets Brutal at Birmingham Central Library
The 4am Project is back on the 24th April!
For each 4am Project event I organise for Birmingham I try and bring exclusive access to unique and wonderful locations in the city and April’s event is no exception.
This April Birmingham photographers will have a unique opportunity to get brutal at Birmingham’s Central Library!
The 4am Project has teamed up with Project Brutal and Birmingham Central Library is allowing photographers not only entry into the library, but also exclusive access to some truly magical and breathtaking areas not seen by the public!
With the brutalist library currently on course for demolition this years 4am Project will provide a final chance for people to capture and celebrate this truly iconic building.
Tickets for the 4am Project Tour will be made available via eventbrite on Thursday 24th March at 11am. Spaces are limited to 50, and will be allocated on a first served basis.
Project Brutal is run by Marie Foulston and works to curate and encourage creative projects and events that capture Birmingham’s Brutal Central Library before it’s proposed demolition.
Project Brutal says: “The death knell has sounded for one of Birmingham’s most controversial and significant brutalist structures, Birmingham’s Central Library. Whilst we might not be able to save Birmingham’s central library we still have time to give it one heck of a wake.
Project Brutal aims to do just that by bringing together creative people and networks to help organise and encourage a series of eclectic events and projects that celebrate and capture the building before it’s too late.”
This April will mark the 4am Project’s 2nd Birthday! It’s been an amazing couple of years and I’m so proud to see the project go from strength to strength. 100’s of photographers from around 40 countries have taken part so far, and there are almost 5000 4am images! A truly global collaborative project.
Thank you to everyone who has taken part and supported the project so far! I’d like to ask you to continue your support by tweeting and blogging about the project, and there is even a countdown clock you can embed too! Don’t forget to set your alarms clocks
You can find the Birmingham Press Release here.
I hope you can make it to this amazing photography event in Birmingham on 24th April. It’s going to be a one off! Please note that there is an earlier start and a later finish for this event as there is so much to see at the library!
Don’t forget you can follow the 4am Project on twitter.
