Style Awards 2009

Posted at 23rd October 2009

Last night I put on my best dress and attended the Style Awards, which celebrated Birmingham’s most stylish retailers, bars and celebrities.

I took my place by the side of the red carpet with a gaggle of other photographers and got ready for the celebs. Mental note: Don’t wear high heels to a red carpet event when standing for nearly two hours ;)

First up, Niki Evans, X Factor semi finalist 2007

DJ, OJ Borg

Matt Willis and Emma Willis

The glamorous ladies from Rewired who did the PR for the event.

And I couldn’t help a little wander onto the red carpet to get ‘papped’… :)

There was a surprise appearance by Beverley Knight who won the title of Birmingham’s Most Stylish Celebrity.

There then followed an outstanding performance. Beverley packs power into every note! It was a delight to see such a passionate performance.

I wonder if Beverley is looking for a photographer for her new tour…..

Hello Digital 2009

Posted at 22nd October 2009

Yesterday’s photo assignment at Hello Digital for Aquila TV was a slighty different to other assignments I have done in that the photos were uploaded ‘live’ during the event. This meant that there was no time for editing, cropping or colour correction. Throughout the day I took batches of photographs which were then uploaded onto flickr to provide a live photostream.

It was a very busy and well attended event, and there were so many things to photograph! The result was that 102 photos were uploaded to the photostream. Here are a few of my favourites from the day…..

A twitter message from Hello Digital flash up on one of the big screens,  ”Don’t be alarmed @strunksphoto is a very friendly photographer” :)

Alex Hughes is a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. I’d secretly always wanted Alex to draw me, but I had never liked say anything, but luckily Alex asked if he could, so of course I said yes!

Tonight will see me heading over to the Town Hall in Birmingham for the Style Awards. I’ll be covering the celebs on the red carpet for Rewired PR and then attending the award ceremony. It’s going to be a very stylish and glamorous night, and as a photographer you have to be ready for every occasion, so I’ve made sure I have all the appropriate kit in my bag ;)
